From Eden to Glory: The Adam–Christ Mystery in Scripture and the Fathers
The next series of reflections, From Eden to Glory: The Adam–Christ Mystery in Scripture and the Fathers, will unfold as a three-part theological journey through creation, fall, redemption, and restored glory in Christ.
Beginning in Eden and culminating in the High Priestly Prayer of Christ in John 17, this series explores the profound mystery of humanity’s creation in the image of God, the loss of divine communion through the Fall, and the restoration of glory through Jesus Christ, the Second Adam.
Part 1 — Genesis Focus
Eden and the Lost Glory: Humanity Before and After the Fall
A reflection on humanity’s original vocation, the “robe of glory” in the Syriac tradition, the meaning of freedom, and the tragic rupture of communion through sin.
Part 2 — Christological Focus
The Second Adam: Christ and the Reversal of Adam’s Fall
An exploration of Christ as the New Adam who enters human history to restore what was lost in Eden, healing humanity from within through obedience, incarnation, cross, and resurrection.
Part 3 — Johannine / Mystical Focus
The Hour Has Come: Glory Restored in the High Priestly Prayer
A contemplative study of John 17, where Christ speaks of the glory He shared with the Father before the foundation of the world and reveals the fulfillment of salvation history in divine communion.
Future Reflections in This Theological Journey
Following the completion of this three-part series, future studies will continue to explore related themes, including:
The Robe of Glory in Syriac Theology
Deification in the Eastern Fathers
The Theology of the Cross in John’s Gospel
The Cross as Glory
These reflections seek to bring together Scripture, the Church Fathers, Syriac spirituality, and the rich theological vision of the Christian East and West in order to rediscover the ultimate vocation of humanity: communion with the living God.
